Mercedes-AMG GT gets special edition inspired by F1

Missed out on the AMG GT63 Pro 4Matic+ Motorsport Collectors Edition? There's now a new special edition AMG GT to hanker over, but you'll need to be quick to secure your own.

And that's cause Mercedes-AMG states that only 52 examples of this AMG GT 63 APXGP Edition. Inspired by the fictitious APXGP Formula One team of the F1 film starring Brad Pitt and Damson Idris, the special edition cars come with race gold accents on their exteriors, their AMG-specific radiator grille, as well as on their side skirts and rear apron and rear diffuser blade, said to have been applied by hand.

The cars also come with 21-inch AMG forged wheels (finished in matte race gold), which sit ahead of black brake callipers which come as part of the AMG ceramic high-performance composite brake system.

The cars also get the AMG Exterior Carbon Fibre package, which sees their front splitter, trim strips in the side sills, diffuser and rear wing all made of carbon fibre. Also added to the AMG GT 63 APXGP Edition is a fixed rear wing, and a fuel filler cap in silver chrome. Look closer and you'll spot that the cars also get their radiator trim, AMG crest, logos, and the Mercedes star at the rear all finished in black chrome.

In the cabin, the AMG GT 63 APXGP Edition features AMG Performance seats upholstered in black Nappa leather/microfibre set apart by the use of gold-coloured topstitching. There’s also an AMG Performance steering wheel complete with a black 12 o'clock marking and gold coloured topstitching, while the door panels, instrument panel and centre console also all feature this same topstitching.

A "Limited Edition 1 of 52" badge in the centre console indicates the limited edition of the special model.

The AMG GT 63 APXGP Edition comes powered by a 577bhp AMG 4.0-litre V8 engine alongside Mercedes-AMG's fully variable AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive system. Also added to the special edition cars is a customised, edition-specific AMG Indoor Car Cover to protect the vehicle from dust and scratches in the garage.
