Mercedes-Benz opens new Manufaktur Studio

Mercedes-Benz has announced that it has opened a new Manufaktur Studio at its Sindelfingen site, where top-of-the-range models such as the S-Class are produced.
Customers with exclusive customisation wishes can now experience the Manufaktur programme at several locations at the Sindelfingen site - at the traditional Centre of Excellence, in the Manufaktur and now also in the Manufaktur Studio, which opened on 5 December 2024.
The digitalisation of individual work steps speeds up Manufaktur processes. In addition, individual steps are also optimised with AI to detect small irregularities in materials like leather hides, reducing the workload on employees
After customers have personalised their dream vehicle at the Centre of Excellence, individual components are produced at the Manufaktur site by hand. Customers can then experience first-hand how the vehicle will be customised according to their wishes at the new Manufaktur Studio.
The innovative matrix production in the Manufaktur Studio enables customisation of up to 20 vehicles per day, using driverless transport systems to transport customer vehicles between individual production clusters. In addition, the PixelPaint process - inspired by the function of an inkjet printer - applies paint directly onto the vehicle with precision, allowing for customised patterns with the highest level of accuracy.
Popular with customers and accounting for over 30% of vehicles sold in the top-end segment in the first half of 2024, Mercedes-Benz states that the Manufaktur programme will be available from 2025 on the S-Class, with the full choice of exclusive Manufaktur colours and further bespoke options.
