The latest cars to be recalled are the 2011 Mercedes E-Class, M-Class, R-Class, and the 2011 GL-Class.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (in the US), the fuel filters contain a small O-ring that may not have been properly lubricated before the filter was assembled.
What that means is fuel can leak out while the car is running, causing a fire/safety hazard for the driver, and other road users. So far, no injuries or fires have been reported.
The recall covers some 2,300 gas & diesel cars, sold in the United States.
