Other design highlights include a glass roof with optical illumination, LED headlights, projector-style taillights, and 18-inch lightweight wheels, matched with the concept‘s Bermuda Grey body colour. The doors are also unique with their double-hinged design that “pivot outwards complete with their sills, while the two-piece tailgate has a lower rear section that opens outwards like a kitchen drawer. The “drawer” can be left extended to allow the Rocketman to accommodate four passengers and their luggage.
Inside, the Rocketman comes with leather / Alcantara upholstery, carbon fibre accents, painted trim, and fibre-optic lighting, while there is also a 3D infotainment system, internet connectivity, and a trackball that is integrated into the steering wheel. Additionally, the central control unit “can be taken out of the car and configured on a computer before the journey begins to update navigation destinations, the music playlist or contact details for mobile communications.”
MINI has not revealed any drivetrain details of the Rocketman, or mentioned whether the car will make production, but more details are expected to follow at the car‘s official unveiling at the Geneva Motor Show next week.
