Mitsubishi has revealed a new Triton rally car in Bangkok Thailand, set to be used by Team Mitsubishi Ralliart in the Asia Cross Country Rally.
The rally, set to be held in August 2023, will see the team competing from Thailand to Laos in a new rally car that promises raised durability and reliability than the Triton which competed from Thailand to Cambodia in 2022.
This new car is based on the double cab Triton offered in Thailand, modified in accordance with the FIA Group T1 restrictions for modified cross-country vehicles. Changes to the exterior include the addition of a roll cage and bumper guard, as well as the use of carbon fibre for the bonnet, doors, and cargo bed.
It also gets rally-specific front and rear suspension, and a limited-slip differential. The rally Mitsubishi Tritons also get lightweight aluminium wheels for improved handling on tough surfaces. The Triton's new 2.4-litre turbodiesel engine also gets improved sealing and has been outfitted with a snorkel to take on the various river crossing of the special stages of the Asia Cross Country Rally.
The new Mitsubishi Triton sports a red and black livery, said to represent the energy of gushing lava.
