Mitsubishi has pulled the covers off its all-new Eclipse Cross for the European market, which - unlike the Eclipse Cross we've gotten acquainted to in Singapore - is a fully electric SUV based off the Renault Scenic E-Tech. The Japanese brand has also said that the car's European launch will commence before the end of the calendar year.
Supplied under an OEM agreement from the company's Alliance partner, the Renault Group, the European market Eclipse Cross is built on the CMF-EV platform, and has been designed exclusively as a battery-electric vehicle (BEV).
Its "Smart Armour" design concept incorporates powerful, armour-like design elements into an advanced and sophisticated smart EV design. Meanwhile, its front face features an evolved version of Mitsubishi's Dynamic Shield with a 3D honeycomb pattern. On the sides of its body, dynamic J-shaped lines flow with its daytime running lights, while its rear sports Mitsubishi's "Hexagonal Stability" design identity.
Inspired by a "Sporty and Modern" design approach, the interior features horizontal satin silver accents wrapped throughout the cabin. The seat layout offers a practical two-row, five-passenger configuration, with the seats themselves offering enhanced support and diamond-pattern stitching. In addition, ambient lighting in the door panels and dashboard is available in 48 colour variations.
Up front, the car is equipped with a vertical 12.3-inch Smartphone-link Display Audio (SDA) system and a Harman Kardon premium sound system with five selectable listening modes. Four drive modes are also available: Personal, Eco, Comfort, and Sport. In addition, the Mitsubishi mobile app enables remote access to the vehicle, which supports Firmware-Over-The-Air wireless software update technology.
The all-new Eclipse Cross is powered by an 87kWh battery offering an approximate WLTP range of 600km on a full charge, with AC and DC charging at up to 22kW and 150kW respectively. Its powertrain offers an output of 160kW and 300Nm of torque, and the model also offers four selectable levels of regenerative braking, as well as a one-pedal driving function.
Mitsubishi has said that a medium-range Eclipse Cross model focusing on everyday usability is scheduled to be launched in 2026.
