Alfa Romeo has unveiled its first all-electric production car.
The Alfa Romeo Milano measures 4,170mm long and 1,780mm wide, giving a footprint that is close to that of the Opel Mokka-e, and just a touch smaller than the Mazda MX-30.
The muscular wheel arches and truncated tail of the Milano are said to have been inspired by the Giulia TZ of the 1960s
But the Milano sports an exterior design that is far more extraverted than these two.
Up front, the car gets bold '3+3' adaptive LED matrix head lights, which flank a grille that features Alfa Romeo's own logo. Observe the car from its flanks and you'll notice it comes with muscular wheel arches as well as a truncated tail - a reference to the Giulia TZ.
Step into the Alfa Romeo Milano and you'll find a 10.25-inch digital driver's instrument cluster, which adopts the firm's historical telescope design - said to invite the driver to wrap his/her hands around the steering wheel.
Those that do take their hands off this wheel will be able to utilise the 10.25-inch infotainment system, which promises a high level of customisation and makes use of widgets and graphic components for intuitive use.
And if that logo on the front grille is not enough, the car also gets of air-conditioning vents in the shape of a four-leaf clover. Those eagerly awaiting sporty drives will also be pleased to hear that the car comes with Sabelt sports seats with an enveloping backrest.
Powering the Alfa Romeo Milano is a 54kWh battery, which animates either a 154bhp or 237bhp electric motor. This battery gives the car a WLTP range of 410km and can be charged at up to 100kW at a direct current charging station. Alfa Romeo states that the car will take less than 30 minutes to charge from 10% to an 80% state-of-charge.

Interestingly, a 48V hybrid variant powered by a 1.2-litre three-cylinder engine is also being offered. This drivetrain gets a six-speed dual-clutch gearbox alongside a 28bhp electric motor that allows the Milano to drive solely on electric power when executing parking manoeuvre as well as at low speeds in urban areas, and will also be available paired with a four-wheel drive system.
The Alfa Romeo Milano is being launched with a top-of-the-range 'Speciale' trim level that comes with matt Brera red accents and 18-inch alloy wheels, as well as a leather steering wheel and electrically operated driver's seat with massage function in its cabin. Also added for this trim level is an eight-colour interior lighting system that marks out the air vents, central tunnel, and instrument cluster.
