New Aston Martin DBX S SUV promises more power, less weight

British automobile manufacturer Aston Martin has announced the arrival of a new DBX flagship: The DBX S, continuing a long tradition of Aston Martin's by utilising the 'S' suffix to denote a special, high-performance version of an existing model, which in this case is the DBX.
At the heart of the new DBX S lies an upgraded version of the Aston Martin 4.0-litre V8 powerhouse, which sees its power raised to 717bhp. This allows it to complete the century sprint in just 3.3 seconds, with its top speed remaining unchanged at 311km/h.
In addition to the power upgrade, the DBX S is also lighter, in part thanks to an optional carbon fibre roof, optional 23-inch magnesium wheels (aluminium wheels come as standard), and a lightweight polycarbonate honeycomb grille.
Seen from the side, new sills boast highly distinctive up-turned air splitters, with carbon fibre available to specify for the wing mirrors, side strakes and lower door sill. The DBX S also features 'S' signature badging on its front fenders, with the badge surround plated in either bright or dark chrome to match the colour of the iconic Aston Martin wings chosen by the customer.
However, the most obvious visual changes to the DBX S are at the rear, dominated by quad exhausts available in both gloss and matt finishes. The rear bumper and diffuser have been completely re-profiled and can be specified with carbon. The DBX S also showcases a new lower livery design available to specify in three colours: Rosso Corsa Red, Trophy Silver, and Podium Green.
Its interior displays a bespoke 'S' theme, with the most notable feature being the distinctive herringbone design that comes as standard on the seats. This can also be extended to the headlining if the optional carbon roof is chosen.
Additionally, lightweight sporting Alcantara comes as standard and can be seen on the seats, headlining, centre console, lower instrument panels and upper trim. In areas of high wear such as the seat bolsters, the Alcantara is seamlessly blended with semi-aniline leather.
The DBX S continues the adoption of Aston Martin's state-of-the-art, in-house developed infotainment system with a striking new cabin architecture, and is fitted with the Aston Martin Premium Audio 800W 14-speaker audio system as standard.
Aston Martin has said that the DBX S is available for order in the U.K., with deliveries expected in Q4 2025.
