The Singapore Traffic Police (TP) has confirmed that it is currently testing its Traffic Violation Enforcement Camera (TVEC), which detected more than 6,000 traffic offences across 11 locations in September 2025, the first month of its trial.
According to TP, the TVEC is capable of recognising vehicle number plates, detecting movement patterns, and identifying violations such as crossing double white lines (the most common violation during the trials), red light offences or directional signs, and vehicles stopping in yellow boxes.
The aforementioned 11 locations, ranging from places such as Tampines and Queensway, were chosen based on feedback from the public. In the future, the TVECs will be progressively deployed to accident-prone areas and sites where offences are frequently reported.
Additionally, as the trial of the TVECs are still ongoing, TP has said that no actions will be taken against the offenders during this period. These violations will instead be used to assess the cameras' accuracy and effectiveness.
TP has said that it aims to fully operationalise the TVEC system in Q1 2026, with the camera locations to be published on the SPF website.
