Next-generation BMW Z4 to be a sportier drive

A new report from Inside Line suggests that the next-generation Z4 will be sportier and more agile to drive than its would-be predecessor and thus putting it in place to rival the likes of Porsche Boxster.

In terms of increased agility, this will come from utilising the downsized turbocharged four-cylinder engine found under the hood. It will offer less grunt than an inline-six  but in return it is also much lighter and gives the car a more balanced weight distribution.

Aesthetically speaking, the next-gen Z4 is expected to be more of an evolution than a revolution, with a design that is targeted that is lasting for at least 15 years. The current Z4, the one before it and the Z3 have been characterised by their long hood and it is now reported that the upcoming roadster will lose that hood to a certain extent. The company wants to make the hood shorter and to deliver a sportier driving experience overall, but not overboard so as to avoid alienating fans of the current model.
