Opel reveals Movano Hydrogen concept at IAA Transportation

Opel has unveiled the new Movano Hydrogen concept at IAA Transportaion.

Storing its hydrogen fuel within four 700 bar hydrogen cylinders located in its underbody, the hydrogen-powered commercial vehicle is said to take only five minutes to refill and can offer a WLTP driving range of up to 500km.

These tanks feed a 45kW fuel cell, which in turn animates an electric motor that can deliver a total of 148bhp alongside 410Nm of torque. A 11kWh lithium-ion high-voltage battery, meanwhile, allows the vehicle to drive at speeds of up to 90km/h, and supports this fuel cell when the vehicle is driven at peak load, increasing its service life.

Opel states that the Movan Hydrogen offers the same cargo carrying capacity as the other production variants of the Movano, with up to 17,000 litres of cargo offered (depending on the selected body variant), alongside a payload of up to 1,370kg.

Three production variants of the Opel Movano Hydrogen are set to be offered when the firm puts a series production version of the vehicle to market, which is set to be produced on the same production line as its battery-electric or efficient diesel siblings.
