Parking space is an increasing concern in the Central Business District (CBD). As such, it is estimated that a substantial portion of the 200,000 professionals working in the CBD choose not to drive to work.
Speaking to The Straits Times, 35-year old Seah Chee Koon think it is unjustifiable to drive from his home in the west to his office in CBD as it is too expensive. Mr. Seah added that he would rather spend 45 minutes commuting by train.
The local papers also reported that parking situation is unlikely to improve, as according to a transport masterplan released last week parking supply in the CBD is expected to decrease over time as newer buildings will take the place of older ones.
