Polestar hits 150,000 vehicle production milestone

Polestar has announced that it has produced a total of 150,000 vehicles since production of its first volume vehicle, the Polestar 2, first started in 2020. The news comes as the firm starts deliveries of the updated Polestar 2, which is set to propel the firm's growth further.

The firm states that it was the fastest growing car brand in the U.K. through the first seven months of 2023, with new registrations growing by 174% compared to the previous year. A total of 20,000 examples of the Polestar 2 are now on the road in the U.K. The 100,000^th Polestar 2 to be produced was handed over to an Irish customer in Dublin only early in 2023.

Polestar first revealed its updated Polestar 2 in January of 2023. The Long range Single motor variant on the all-electric fastback now offers a 654km WLTP range, and can charge its 82kWh battery at a maximum speed of 205kW. Single-motor variants of the car additionally now send power to the rear axle, while dual-motor variants will get a rear-biased power distribution, which Polestar states will make the car more entertaining to drive.
