Porsche has unveiled a new 911 S/T.
Built to mark the 911's 60th anniversary, the special model will see only 1,963 examples built, and is said to sport a lightweight design and offer a pure driving experience. The Porsche 911 S/T also marks the first time the 4.0-litre high-revving engine from the 911 GT3 RS has been paired to a manual gearbox.
This engine produces a total of 518bhp, which is sent to six-speed manual transmission with gear ratios shorter than those on the 911 GT3. Combined with the fact that the 911 S/T weighs just 1,380kg, all this means the 911 S/T will hit 100km/h in just 3.7 seconds, and go on to a top speed of 300km/h.
Sitting between the engine and the gearbox is a model-exclusive lightweight clutch (for raised engine responsiveness), while aft of this engine, the car also gets a lightweight sports exhaust system as standard (for a more exhilarating driving experience).
And that mentioned low weight has been achieved thanks to the use of carbon fibre reinforced plastic on the front bonnet, roof, front wings and the doors. The car's roll cage and rear axle anti-roll bar are also made from the same lightweight composite.
Magnesium wheels, Porsche's carbon ceramic brake system, a lithium-ion starter battery and lightweight glass, all also come as standard to bring the model's weight down.
And to further aid affairs here, this Porsche 911 S/T also makes do without rear-axle steering. Porsche states that it has retuned the dampers and the control systems of the 911 S/T to account for this change.
In the cabin, carbon fibre reinforced plastic is once again utilised to form the full bucket seats, although four-way-adjustable Sports Seat Plus are also available on the 911 S/T for no extra charge. The car also gets its instrument cluster and the clock of the Sport Chrono package finished in a classic green Porsche colour scheme.
Those that truly want to celebrate the history of the 911 will also be able to get their 911 S/T with the Heritage Design Package. Exclusive to the package is the Shoreblue Metallic finish you see in the pictures, as well as the Ceramica finish on the rims.
The package additionally comes with a graphic on the car's doors (in any number you wish as long as it sits between zero and 99) and the classic-design Porsche crest from the original 911 on the front, the hub caps, the steering wheel, the headrests and the key fob of your 911 S/T.
The package also adds cloth seat centers in Classic Cognac with black pinstripes, as well as a roof lining in perforated Dinamica, amongst other features.
