Porsche builds a 956 inspired 911 GT3

Porsche has created a special Porsche 911 GT3 for Race Driver Paolo Barilla.

The one-off was created in celebration of the Paolo Barilla's 60^th birthday, and makes the Race Driver the first customer to complete a car project together with Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur as part of the new Sonderwunsch programme.

Paolo Barilla wanted to design a unique Porsche 911 GT3 based on his 1985 Le Mans winning Porsche 956 (pictured left, above). In addition to the characteristic racing look in Summer Yellow, white and black, the special 911 GT3 also has the winning race number '7' on its bonnet and doors. The car also gets centre-lock wheels inspired by the rims of the Porsche 956.

The side plates on the rear spoiler are also influenced by the design and geometry of their historic predecessor. A modified rear wing, with 'PB 60' blazoned across its flanks, also had to prove its flow characteristics in the wind tunnel. The style of this logo is inspired by the graphic of the then main sponsor of the Le Mans winning car.

Black dominates the interior, as is fitting for a racing car. The door entry guards and the decorative trim in yellow on the passenger side dashboard are decorated with a that combines the type code 956, the 'Le Mans 1985' logo and the stylised silhouette of the racing car.

This logo and the 1985 circuit also repeated as embroidery in the headrests. The car also gets a distinctive lever, reminiscent of the magnesium ball in the 956 racing car and is an elaborate custom-made product, with its top section milled from an aluminium block and the surface sanded.
