Porsche has delivered the first of what will be a total of 10 special-edition examples of the 911 Carrera 4 GTS, all built to celebrate 50 years of the Transfagarasan highway.
All 10 vehicles come as a product of the Porsche Sonderwunsch programme, and will sport the same commemorative exterior badging, Romanian flag accents and bespoke interior elements, although customers will be able to have theirs in their paint finish of choice alongside a host of accessories and interior materials.
The first example, delivered to a Romanian owner, sports a Paint to Sample Graphite Grey exterior, with wheels sporting contrasting Guards Red band on its spoke, a colour that is also deployed on the head light rings. The car also gets a 'Tribute to Transfagarasan' decal on its doors, while its B-pillars sport special edition badging. And at the rear, the car gets its engine slats finished in blue, yellow and red – the colours of the Romanian flag.
In the cabin, the car is set apart by special edition illuminated door sill guards, embroidery on its headrests and on the centre armrest.
Passing over the Fagaras mountains and linking the Romanian regions of Muntenia and Transylvania by way of 90 sweeping kilometres of ribbon-like asphalt, the Transfagarasan is widely acknowledged as one of the world's greatest highways.
