Porsche AG has two new members on its Executive Board: Jochen Breckner has been appointed board member for Finance and IT, while Matthias Becker is now the board member responsible for Sales and Marketing.
Jochen Breckner takes over from Lutz Meschke, while Matthias Becker succeeds Detlev von Platen. The outgoing board members are leaving Porsche by mutual agreement.
Prior to his appointment to the board, Breckner oversaw the brand's General Secretariat and Corporate Development, a role he held since 2018. Becker, on the other hand, was previously Head of the Overseas and Emerging Markets region. According to the manufacturer, he has been successful in turning it into one of Porsche's "strong sales pillars".
Breckner is no stranger to Porsche, having joined the carmaker in 2000 as an intern and diploma student, and later as a doctoral student. Born in Stuttgart, Breckner became assistant to the Chairman of the Executive Board in 2008. Following that, he became Head of Controlling for Sales, Marketing and Financial Services from 2010-2012.
In his previous role as Head of the General Secretariat and Corporate Development, Breckner was credited with the management of Porsche's IPO and the long-term efficiency programme aimed at optimising financial resilience.
Matthias Becker, on the other hand, brings extensive experience to his new role, having worked within the Volkswagen Group in several management positions. Apart from Volkswagen marketing in Germany, he has also been in various leading sales functions in Europe and China with Skoda.
Dr Wolfgang Porsche, Chairman of the Supervisory Board, said, "In appointing Jochen Breckner and Matthias Becker, we are very pleased to have found two excellent successors from within the ranks of Porsche. Together with them, we will continue to write the unique success story of our company."
"We would like to thank Lutz Meschke for his great commitment and his many years of successful work for Porsche AG. He has decisively shaped the positive development of this company with a high level of commitment and strategic foresight and he resolutely drove the IPO."
He added, "I would also like to thank Detlev von Platen on behalf of the Supervisory Board. His many years of strong commitment have shaped Porsche. His commitment to the development of global markets is particularly noteworthy," says Dr. Wolfgang Porsche.
Oliver Blume, Chairman of the Executive Board of Porsche AG, added, "With Jochen Breckner and Matthias Becker, the Executive Board team is gaining two experienced professionals who have lived Porsche for many years and bring a wealth of experience with them - Jochen Breckner from his various roles at Porsche and Matthias Becker from his roles at Porsche, Audi, Škoda and Volkswagen.
"Both colleagues have the quality to develop our company in a future-oriented manner from day one. We benefit here from structured succession planning and long-term personnel development."
