Porsche and Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles have revived an old motorsport tradition thanks to the Volkswagen ID. Buzz.
Already present on the race track at the first race of the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany in Spa-Francorchamps, the two firms now have new Renndienst (race service) buses - invoking a tradition that started from the 1950s and continued on the 1970s which saw models including the Porsche 904, 908, 910 and 917 all being driven from victory to victory.
The new electric bus takes after the Renndienst vehicles of old, thanks to the use of a dark red exterior finish, while also featuring the 'Renndienst' as a nod to its predecessors. Two ID. Buzz vehicles as race service vehicles for the teams of the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany and Porsche Sports Cup Germany.
