Renault has unveiled the new 4 E-Tech 100% electric at the 2024 Paris Motor Show.
Heralded as a "retro-futuristic reinvention that reflects Renault's commitment to accelerating the energy transition", the car gets a front grille that is inspired by the original Renault 4, and is made from a single 145mm-long unique piece.
At the rear, the iconic three-part lights - one of many nods to the original's design - have been revamped with modern lines and a distinctive LED signature. Other design highlights include bonnet lines continuing to the bottom of the grille, and the shape of the rear quarter window.
The Renault 4 E-Tech's 2,620mm wheelbase allows it to offer generous cabin space. The 4,140mm-long car has a boot space of 420 litres, which comes with features like four lashing hooks, two bag hooks, and a 35-litre underfloor area for the charging cable.
The car can be charged at up to 100kW at a direct current (DC) charger which will see its battery go from 15% to 80% in just 30 minutes. Charging from an alternating charger, meanwhile, can be done at up to 11kW, allowing it to go 10% to 100% in four hours and 30 minutes.
A 40kWh battery is also available, coupled to an 80kW DC charger and a 90kW (121bhp) electric motor, with a range of up to 299km. The car will also feature the new One Pedal function, which allows it to decelerate and come to a stop when the driver releases the accelerator pedal.
The Renault 4 E-Tech will be built at Maubeuge, while the electric motor is produced in Cleon, and the battery in Ruitz. With 26.4% of materials from the circular economy and its seat fabric made from 100% recycled fibres, the car has an overall recyclability of 88.6%, honouring Renault Group's sustainability commitments.
