The Pulse is based on the Nissan Micra/March hatchback, which is also built at the same Renault-Nissan Alliance plant in Chennai, and was developed by Renault’s Mumbai Design Centre. The Pulse features a more angular front end design than its Nissan counterpart.
The new Pulse will be on display at the New Delhi Motor Show in January, and go on sale shortly afterwards, with engine options being limited at launch to a 1.5-litre turbo diesel dCi. Renault hopes that the Pulse will significantly increase its share in the Indian car market, with small cars making up more than 80% of new car sales in India.
The Pulse hatchback was unveiled by Renault’s Chief Operating Officer Carlos Tavares, and will be built at the Renault-Nissan Alliance's plant at Chennai. The Pulse joins the Fluence sedan and Koleos SUV as the third model in Renault’s Indian line-up this year. Renault plans to add on the Duster crossover and another, as-yet-unconfirmed sedan to its model line-up in India.
