Rev Up Singapore! returns with new and enhanced initiatives

This year's edition of Rev Up Singapore! campaign organised by SingaporeGP, introduces a number of new events and activities that would delight F1 fans as it leads up to the 7th Singapore Grand Prix - headlined by Singapore Airlines. Three new fan friendly programmes will be introduced while activities that were well-received by more than 32,400 fans last year have been improved.
Karting training programme and championship
New this year, Singapore GP is launching the Karting Training Programme and Championship, exclusively for Singaporeans and Singapore residents between the ages of 15 and 21.
120 students with no prior experience will be selected by ballot and trained in the fundamentals of motor racing with specialised theory and practical workshops.
The rookies will then test their mettle in the Championship finals at the Marina Bay Street Circuit under two categories - 15 to 17-years old, and 18 to 21-years old.
The top driver in each category will win a year-long karting scholarship sponsored by KF1 Pte Ltd and Singapore GP Pte Ltd, consisting of a Singapore Motor Sports Association karting license, practice sessions, full race gear, and entry to the 2015 KF1 official races in Singapore - worth S$11,850 each.
Rev up Singapore! Kartnival
Members of the public will also be able to try their hand at go-karting for free by participating in the Rev Up Singapore! Kartnival. The event was specially created in conjunction with the Tourism50 celebrations to commemorate 50 years of tourism development and promotion in Singapore.
Participation is on a first come first served basis, with a total of 500 exclusive slots available on the 31st August at the Marina Bay Street Circuit.
Pit Stop @ The Libraries
'Pit Stop @ The Libraries' is a series of educational exhibitions from May to September.
The exhibits will take place for two weeks at each library including Jurong Regional Library, Bukit Merah Public Library, Bedok Public Library, Ang Mo Kio Public Library and Central Public Library.
Visitors will gain insights into some fascinating milestones in Formula One since its inception in 1950, learn interesting technological facts and, get a better understanding about the new regulations in this season's World Championship.
In addition visitors can enjoy free movie screenings of two award winning F1 movies - Grand Prix and Senna - and test their mettle on the Singapore GP race simulators.


In association with the People's Association Youth Movement, the school visit will be expanded to 20 secondary schools this year.
Students from participating schools will also each receive a mini self-assembled F1 car kit, designed by Singapore cardboard sculptor Bartholomew Ting.
Students can personalise the cars, and upload photos of their creative artwork to Instagram with the hashtag #revupsg - where five students will stand a chance to win a pair of three-day Zone 4 Walkabout tickets to the race.
Thursday pit lane experience
After a successful debut last year, 2,500 members of the public will once again be able to walk down the pit lane as well as the F1 Village in Zone One of the Marina Bay Street Circuit, before the Circuit Park opens to ticketholders - on the 18th of September.
The Pit Lane Walk offers participants an exclusive first hand view of the team garages in addition to exploring the interactive activities at the F1 Village, be entertained by live stage performances and roving acts.
In addition, five visitors - chosen by ballot - will be selected for an exclusive tour of the Caterham F1 Team garage for a close up view of the new CT05.
Behind the scenes tours
The exclusive behind the scenes tour of the Marina Bay Street Circuit has been extended to the members of the public this year - where 200 participants will get a rare opportunity to experience a first hand look into the Paddock, team garages, hospitality homes, and even restricted areas like the Race Control room, podium and commentary booths.
