27 May 2011|4,756 views
The 9-3 ePower electric vehicles are based on the 9-3 SportCombi estate, and the cars are produced at an area in Saab’s production plant in Trollhatten, Sweden, known as Frickeboa. Saab will produce only 70 examples of the 9-3 ePower EV. All 9-3 ePower EVs will be hand-built, and they will be supplied to a test fleet for a year to collect feedback for future improvements. The Saab 9-3 ePower uses a lithium-ion battery pack and a new, advanced battery management system to deliver 200 kilometres of zero-emissions driving.
The Saab 9-3 ePower is the first electric vehicle from Saab and is a result of a co-operation between Saab Automobile, Boston Power (batteries), Electroengine in Sweden AB (battery management system), Innovatum (project management), Power Circle (Sweden’s electric power industry trade organization) and the Swedish Energy Agency (partial financing).
