Saab resumes production of cars in Sweden

The first car to roll off the production line after the restart was a new Saab 9-5 saloon, and the event was attended by Spyker Cars CEO Victor Muller as well as Saab Automobile chief Jan Åke Jonsson and Trollhättan plant director Gunnar Brunius.

The first 9-5 will be part of a fleet of test vehicles that will be produced before the model is launched later this year. Saab also intends to build a new convertible as well as a 9-5 Sportwagon that will be launched next year. Saab intends to produce up to five models at Trollhättan.

"Today's resumption of production is a milestone in the history of our company. We are up and running as an independent manufacturer™ and we are all now focused on ramping up production to meet customer demand," said Jonsson
