It is no secret there is little to stop Sebastian Vettel from claiming the top spot on the podium whenever he claims pole position. In the usual lights to flag style, the newly crowned quadruple champion, claimed victory at the United States Grand Prix at the wee hours of the local time - and in the process - broke one of Schumacher's records.

Crossing to the dance of the chequered flags by 6.2 seconds ahead of Romain Grosjean, there was minimal threat from the rest of the pack despite the latter jumping to second at the start of the race and closing in on the purple-blue hued car towards the end of each stint.
Vettel's team mate, Mark Webber, in his penultimate race in the sport, finished a good third despite losing the spot early to Lewis Hamilton. Sadly, he could not bring home the Raging Bull to a one-two finish despite numerous attempts on the gold on black lotus ahead of him.
Championship contender Fernando Alonso, finished behind Hamilton who defended Nico Hulkenberg in the closing laps. As Nico Rosberg in the other silver arrows and Felipe Massa on the other prancing horse finished ninth and 12th respectively, the Ferrari team has one final shot for second placing in the constructor's championship - concluding their fight with Mercedes AMG in Brazil next week.
Sergio Perez finished a respectable seventh, ahead of an impressive Valtteri Bottas who scored the first points of his career. The other McLaren piloted by Jensen Button took home the final point.
The race had its fair share of disruptions as the safety car was deployed before the end of the first lap, after Adrian Sutil in his Force India speared sideways into the barriers having been tagged by Pastor Maldonado’s Williams.
On the restart Vettel pulled away and built a comfortable lead, while Hamilton's tyres went off quicker than his competitors. This allowed Webber to reclaim his final podium spot around the outside in to Turn 12.
Besides the usual overtaking action from Hulkenberg and Hamilton, Esteban Gutierrez in the other Sauber eventually dropped to 13th after a spin on the final lap following contact with Jean-Eric Vergne's Torro Rosso. Vergne was later handed a 20 second drive-through penalty for the incident which dropped him to 16th.

The victory in the Austin circuit puts the young German ahead of drivers like Michael Schumacher and Alberto Ascari to win eight grand prix races consecutively in a single season. Besides, if he wins during the season concluding grand prix in Brazil, he would equal compatriot, Schumacher's 2004 record of 13 wins in a single season.
