But these developments do not mean that those that drive combustion-powered vehicles have been forgotten. And to drive home this fact, Shell has launched its latest and most advanced fuel formula here, 100 years on since it first established its first retail presence along Orchard Road.
Held at the Cloud9 Piazza of Jewel Changi Airport, the launch event gave Shell the opportunity to elaborate more on the work that has gone into the development of this new formula, as well as the benefits that drivers can expect to gain from it to the media through a series of presentations aided by multiple mockups of engine components.
Alongside the typical improvements to corrosion protection and wear resistance, the new fuel formulation also promises a significant improvement in fuel efficiency for its users.
New for Shell FuelSave, for example, is the latest in deposit-targeting technology, designed to deep clean your engine's fuel system components of efficiency-sapping deposits.
Shell states that its FuelSave fuels are designed to remove up to 65% of these deposits, as well as to protect against future build-up.
This, in turn, will lead to an improvement of fuel economy by up to 2%, or an increase in 15km of range per tank of Shell FuelSave 98 and 95.
Those that pump Shell V-Power, meanwhile, can expect the fuel to now clean 100% of performance-robbing deposits from the key fuel components of their engine. Shell V-Power is said to now contain up to three times more cleaning and protection molecules than Shell's regular fuel, ensuring that your engine will continue to run like new.
If those figures seem too good to be true to you, you're more than welcome to test the new fuel formula yourself. From 6 April to 30 June 2023, simply pick up a mileage tracker after you pump at a Shell station and you'll be able to keep track of just how much further each tank of fuel can bring you.
