Volkswagen's advanced DSG automatic transmission has found its way into the 2011 Octavia and Superb AWD 2.0 TDI.
Working with the new DSG gearbox is an equally new All-Wheel Drive system, which puts power to all four wheels via an electronically controlled Haldex clutch.
Under normal driving conditions, the Octavia, and the Superb will both act like a front-wheel drive car. Because the system sends 96% of the engine's power to the front wheels.
However, if one wheel starts to slip, the Haldex clutch engages and transfers power where it needs to go.
The new 4x4/DSG combo will be available on hatchback, and estate versions of the Superb, along with the Octavia Estate and the Octavia Scout.
They will go on sale in November 2010 in Great Britain, followed shortly by other markets.
