Skoda Auto has announced that it is opening a Volkswagen Group Technology Solutions India (VWITS) regional office in Prague.
The new facility is designed to strengthen collaboration and create new links with specialists in India, where VWITS operates one of its largest global IT centres. The strategic partnership and further development of in-house expertise is said to underline Skoda Auto's efforts towards advancing digitalisation, a cornerstone of its 'Next Level - Skoda Strategy 2030'.
The Volkswagen Group subsidiary VWITS is said to operate one of its largest global IT centres in the South Asian country and employs over 2,600 computing specialists. India is an important market for Skoda Auto, where the company takes the operational and strategic lead for the Volkswagen Group and its brands. The firm announced in February 2024 that it will reveal a new crossover for the Indian market. Sitting below the Kushaq, this new crossover will be the third Skoda product to be based on the MQB-A0-IN platform which was developed jointly by teams in India and the Czech Republic.
The new VWITS regional office will initially offer positions for 30 experts. The primary focus of the new workspace will be cooperation with local software providers in areas including logistics, production, and car sales.
