Skoda Enyaq joins emergency fleet in the U.K.

The Skoda Enyaq is now joining the U.K.'s fleet of emergency vehicles.

The East Midlands Ambulance Service (EMAS) in the U.K. has chosen to introduce two examples of the all-electric Skoda Enyaq 80 into its rapid response fleet, after a successful trial period that evaluated the car's suitability for blue-light duty. The rapid response fleet is said to receive a 999 call every 25 seconds on average.

The two examples of the Skoda Enyaq have undergone a comprehensive conversion and come complete with features including lower consumption LED lighting as well as new lightbars with reduced drag and lightweight interior fittings, all to maximise the range of the vehicle.

The car's interior space has also been utilised to carry the necessary equipment, supplies and medication required by first responders. Skoda states that with each rapid response vehicle in the EMAS covering an average of 64km a day, which means the Enyaq should have no difficulty covering a 12-hour shift without needing to charge.
