Skoda releases first teasers of refreshed Octavia
02 Feb 2024|465 views
After more than four years of being in production, the fourth-generation Octavia is gearing up for a mid-life refresh.
Skoda has just released teasers of the new car's exterior, and from the very limited first glances, it appears that the car will retain the design and form we've largely grown accustomed to, albeit with light tweaks.
Not much has been revealed about the extent of the updates yet, though Skoda seems to have confirmed that the model will continue to be sold in both "hatchback and Combi estate body styles" (we refer to the former as a fastback sedan here in Singapore).
What the Czech carmaker has specifically confirmed, however, is that the Octavia will now sport an extended Skoda grille. The tailgate will also now utilise the brand's revised corporate identity. Back in 2022, Skoda had announced a new wordmark with different typography "based on symmetry and a combination of round shapes with borders". Notably, this now integrates the caron above the letter 'S', such that it no longer protrudes above.
The Octavia remains the bestselling model from Skoda worldwide. In Singapore specifically, the fastback sedan variant was reintroduced as recently as last year with a 1.0-litre mild hybrid engine, to allow it to duck under the power ceiling for Category A COEs, as premiums skyrocketed across 2023.
Skoda says the new Octavia will be revealed in full "shortly".
