The ride wasn't as composed as it could've been. The build quality was nowhere near what it should've been. And the designs were just, dull. But Chrysler's new management team (from Fiat) have started to change all that.
Enter the 2011 Dodge Journey.
It has an entirely new suspension, and steering system, to make it ride & handle better. And they've even fitted higher quality tyres too, which is something that the budget-minded (aka profit-hungry) Chrysler of old would never dream of doing.
Under the hood, there's the option of a new 3.6 litre V6, which makes a healthy 283-hp. 20% more power than the old six-pot. Plus, the 6-speed auto-box makes it somewhat economical too.
Inside, they've taken the Journey's rather clever cockpit and made it more comfortable.
They've added more sound-deadening insulation, soft-touch surface material, and lots of extra padding where it counts, like the armrests, and door trim.
There's more legroom, thanks to the redesigned dash. And there's lots of new technology too.
Mounted high in the dash is Chrysler's new Uconnect Touch system, which integrates the car's infotainment system, along with mobile devices, like an iPod, or smartphone.
Outside, the 2011 Journey gets a new front fascia, new wheels, and "ring of fire" LED tail lamps.
All in all, the revised Dodge Journey is now a vehicle that you'd want to take a journey in. Kudos Chrysler!
