Maserati has revealed the new MC20 Cielo, a spyder variant of the MC20 coupe.
The new MC20 Cielo is said to merge the performance of a true super sports car, with a holistic and immersive driving pleasure the like of which has never been seen before.
And to this end, the car gets an innovative retractable glass roof. This roof, said to offer best-in-class thermal insulation, takes just 12 seconds to open and close. It is also comprised of a state-of-the-art electrochromic glass, allowing it to be instantly transformed from clear to opaque at the touch of a button on the central screen.
This feature will allow the Maserati MC20 Cielo to offer an all-encompassing experience. With the roof closed and opaque, the car delivers all the comfort of a coupe, and when the roof is transparent, a uniquely brightly lit cabin. Customers can of course, then opt for the full sensory experience by folding the roof down.
Also aiding the sports car experience is the fact that the Maserati MC20 Cielo only weighs 65kg more than the MC20 coupe. A result Maserati states, is attributable to the car's carbon fibre chassis, which guarantees uncompromising torsional rigidity for a combination of extraordinary handling on the road and on the track, with or without a roof.
The Maserati MC20 Cielo is powered by the same 621bhp twin-turbocharged V6, equipped with various technologies from the world of Formula One including the use of a combustion pre-chamber and laterally-mounted sparkplugs.
The Maserati MC20 Cielo comes with parking sensors, a rear-view camera and blind spot monitoring as has been included in the MC20 on the manufacturing year 2022 models. New features for the MC20 Cielo however, include autonomous emergency brake, traffic sign information and a new 360-degree camera. The Maserati MC20 Cielo can also be had with a 12-speaker premium Sonus faber audio system.
The MC20 Cielo can be had as a launch version which features a new three-layer metallic colour known as Acquamarina, available as part of the Maserati Fuoriserie customisation programme.
