The new Range Rover Evoque was unveiled in Singapore at an event held at the atrium of Paragon, on 13 May.
The original Evoque set the bar for stylishly designed SUVs, the latest iteration takes it a step further by incorporating cutting edge technology. Underneath the iconic design with a distinctive coupe-like silhouette, the new Evoque is built on an all new architecture, allowing it to accommodate both plug-in and mild hybrid systems.
Built on Land Rover's new Premium Transverse Architecture, the new Evoque is able to offer a larger interior space despite a similar footprint of 4.37m. This is due to a longer wheelbase which yields an extra 20mm rear legroom. With clever design, an increase in small item stowage is achieved, the larger glove box and center cubby can now accommodate tablets, handbags and bottles with ease. There is also a 10% larger luggage space, with space increasing to 1,156 litres when the flexible 40:20:40 second-row seats are folded.
Super-slim Matrix LED headlamps featuring sweeping directional indicators adorns the stylish fascia of the Evoque while flush door handles add to the smooth, sculpted aesthetics. 21-inch wheels sit within pronounced wheel arches which combine with the rising waist and distinctive fast roofline to create a strong and dynamic exterior.
The Evoque is also equipped with a twin 10-inch touchscreen Touch Pro Duo infotainment system which allows seamless smartphone integration with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The ClearSight Rear View Mirror transforms into a high definition video screen at the touch of a button to display a rear-facing camera feed. The cabin of the Evoque is designed to be a calm and serene space to ensure comfort.
The new Evoque is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder Ingenium petrol engine. Two variants, the R-Dynamic SE 2.0 and First Edition 2.0, offering 197bhp, 320Nm of torque and 245bhp, 363Nm of torque respectively, are available at launch. A 48V mild hybrid system is incorporated to reduce CO2 emissions to as low as 178g/km and an improved fuel economy from 7.9l/100km.
The Evoque features All-Wheel Drive as well as a second-generation Active Driveline with Driveline Disconnect to enhance efficiency and Adaptive Dynamics to deliver an optimum balance of comfort and agility. Terrain Response 2, which was first found on full-size Range Rovers is also incorporated, it automatically detects the surface being driven and adjusts the set-up accordingly.
With new MacPherson Hydrobush front, Integral Link rear suspension and Adaptive Dynamics technology, there is not only an improved refinement and stability in all conditions, but also an agile handling that makes the Evoque perfectly suited for tight city streets such as Singapore.
