In order to better showcase Infiniti’s current model lineup comprising the Q50, the Q70 and the QX70, Wearnes Automotive provided its distinguished guests the opportunity to get behind the wheel at the Infiniti Drive Singapore.
At the event, participants got to experience the latest and most advanced features of the cars through some rigorous exercises that pushed the cars to their limits. Through this, they were able to discover a new level of power, performance and innovation that have moved discerning drivers around the world.
Avoidance Test
In this exercise, the dynamic capabilities of the Q50 Hybrid (not available in Singapore) was put to the test as participants gunned the car down a straight and then avoided a simulated obstacle by changing the car's direction at the very last minute. The car reacted with sharpness and stability with a perfectly balanced grip, giving drivers utmost confidence.
Road Test
Next, the Road Test activity took participants on a leisurely drive around the Changi Exhibition Centre, Changi Village and Loyang area to sample the Q50, the Q70 and the QX70 on the road. Besides providing decent performance with their respective turbocharged and V6 engines, the cars handled and rode with much precision and comfort, much to the delight of their drivers.
Direct Adaptive Steering
In another exercise, Infiniti's Direct Adaptive Steering (DAS) system was tested through a specially crafted gymkhana course that included a series of slaloms and tight corners.
This intelligent system allows drivers to alter and personalise steering weight and responsiveness. At the same time, it also helps to minimise drive fatigue and steering response time, thus enhancing overall safety. The DAS is available as standard on the Q50 Sport.
Around View Monitor
One of the highlights of the event was the Around View Monitor (AVM) test, and it was one of the most challenging exercises as well. In this activity, participants manoeuvered the QX70 on a challenging course with blacked out windows, with the AVM the only source of navigation.
The AVM provides a near 360-degree view of the vehicle and its immediate surroundings, which is projected on the high-resolution 7.0-inch screen of the infotainment system. Therefore, it can assist the driver in challenging parking manoeuvres, reducing the risk of accidents. This system comes standard on the Q50 Premium and Q50 Sport, the QX70 V6 and the QX70 V8.
