Twisted Automotive, a company specialising in the re-engineering of offroaders - more specifically, the iconic Land Rover Defender - is making its way to Tokyo.
During its time in Tokyo, the company will be holding an exclusive exhibition alongside a test drive event, marking the launch of Twisted Japan.
The event is set to be held at Daikanyama T-SITE in Tokyo from 16 to 19 March 2024. During this event, participants will get to do more than just test drive Twisted vehicles, and instead, also have the opportunity to attend bespoke consultation sessions for potential purchases.
This event follows an agreement between Twisted and Japanese dealer, Yone Motors Inc, last year. Part of the deal includes Twisted building 40 vehicles over the span of three years.
Twisted Automotive was first birthed in 2000 to offer tuning and performance enhancements for the Land Rover 200/300tdi Defender, Discovery and Range Rover, before moving on to focus exclusively on Defenders from 2009.
While the legendary offroader remains its focus for restoration and modification, it has also branched out into the Suzuki Jimny in recent years. Some highlights of the standard 'Jimny by Twisted' build include the installation of an ECU and Turbo - boosting the car's power to 163bhp - a new Twisted Performance suspension system, and a Twisted rear anti-roll bar.
The enhanced Jimny also features creature comforts such as a Twisted leather trim all over the cabin, soft-touch dial surrounds, and an upgraded speaker system.
With Twisted's specialisation, the company's founder, Charles Fawcett, mentioned that the considerable number of Defenders in Japan opens up an exciting opportunity for the company to recommission these vehicles to the Twisted standard.
