Leading the press material associated with the reveal of this refreshed Porsche Cayenne is a statement from Michael Schatzle, Vice President of the Cayenne product line at Porsche. Speaking of the work that has gone into the new SUV, he states, "It's one of the most extensive product upgrades in the history of Porsche."
It's not hard to guess why Porsche has opted to lead its materials with such a quote. This new Cayenne, launched here in Singapore at the Warehouse Hotel, can be hard to tell apart from the car it succeeds.
But look a little closer, and you'll find many changes indeed.
The easiest change to spot is the car's new head lights. Now Matrix LED items as standard (HD Matrix head lights are available as an option), these now more prominently feature a quad-module design, a touch also seen on models including the 911 and the Taycan.
Not quite as easy to spot, is the fact that this new Cayenne has received a new front bumper, a new bonnet, wings that have been re-profiled so they get a more prominent arch, as well as a new tailgate that has been decluttered thanks to the move of the license plate onto the rear bumper.
Under all this body work are additional changes done to the chassis of the Cayenne.
The premium SUV now gets new shock absorbers with two-valve technology, which Porsche states has raised vehicle comfort at slow speeds while raising handling during dynamic cornering. Customers here will be able to opt for adaptive air suspension, which also has been updated with two-chamber, two-valve technology for raised handling and comfort.
Step within this new Cayenne and you'll spot another new link with the Taycan - the cabin of the SUV now comes with the Porsche Driver Experience cabin display and control architecture.
In the Cayenne, this architecture houses a 12.6-inch free-standing and gently curved instrument cluster, alongside the 12.3-inch Porsche Communication Management infotainment system complete with native apps including Spotify and Apple Music.
Customers will additionally be able to have their Cayenne with a 10.9-inch display for the front passenger side, which can display performance data or offer separate access to the infotainment system controls. The transmission selector lever also now sits on the dashboard in this Cayenne, freeing up space in the centre console for additional storage.
The Porsche Cayenne is available here with a 349bhp 3.0-litre V6. Those that want more power will also be able to opt for the Porsche Cayenne S, which comes equipped with a 468bhp 4.0-litre V8.
Plug-in hybrid options available here include the Cayenne E-Hybrid, which pairs a 3.0-litre V6 with an electric motor to deliver a system total of 464bhp. Also available here is the Cayenne S E-Hybrid, which also gets a 3.0-litre V6 paired to an electric motor delivering a system total of 512bhp. Both these plug-in hybrid variants utilise a 25.9kWh battery and offer an all-electric range of 90km.
The lineup available here is also currently led by the Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid. This variant gets a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 paired to a 174bhp electric motor to deliver a system total of 730bhp.
All these variants are available here with either the SUV or coupe bodystyle. However, the Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid is also available with a GT Package, which is only available with the coupe body. This GT Package completes the car with additional black accents at the front, black wheel arch extensions, carbon sideplates on its roof spoiler, as well as centrally positioned tailpipes of the titanium exhaust system from the Cayenne Turbo GT, housed within a carbon rear diffuser.
The GT Package also lowers the ride height of the SUV by 10mm, and adds on the Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake system alongside all-wheel steering.
