Vatican City goes all-electric with help from Volkswagen
It looks like the Vatican has been looking to go all-electric, and Volkswagen has been keen to deliver.
Volkswagen has announced that it will be supporting the Vatican City State in its transition towards sustainable mobility with the delivery of a total of 40 all-electric vehicles. These vehicles will include the ID.3, ID.4, and the ID.5, and will form part of the Vatican's goal to make its fleet climate-neutral by 2030.
The first two vehicles from Volkswagen, both 'Pro Performance' examples of the ID.3, have already been delivered, with the rest of the promised vehicles scheduled to reach the Vatican state from 2024.
The Vatican staff should not be strangers to Volkswagen's all-electric lineup, given that the Pope himself once took a Skoda Enyaq iV for his visit to Slovakia. The Supreme Pontiff also has within his fleet an extensively modified Dacia Duster, which was received as a gift from Groupe Renault in 2019.
