Volkswagen delivers ID. Buzz Cargo to Swiss solar firm

Volkswagen has conducted its largest handover of the ID. Buzz Cargo yet.

A total of 100 examples of the all-electric van were handed over to Helionauts - the drivers and staff of leading Swiss solar power firm Helion - converting the firm's entire fleet to electric power.

The solar power firm is said to have set up an operational support group prior to this handover to ensure that its day-to-day operations continue to run smoothly. It has additionally invested in and expanded its charging infrastructure at all its branches. Volkswagen states that the firm should only need to depend on the Swiss public charging network in exceptional cases, thanks to the range offered by the ID. Buzz Cargo, which, at up to 408km, will easily see to Helion's operating range of close to 100km. Helion states that it expects to save close to 300 tonnes of CO₂ per year thanks to the switch over to an electric fleet.
