Volkswagen is organising a global charity event, which will see employees across a total of 21 of its manufacturing sites in 11 countries around the world participating in a run to raise funds for disadvantaged children and young people.
Called 'Health.Care.Run.', the initiative has already kicked off in May, where close to 500 employees in Bratislava, Slovakia (home of the Volkswagen Touareg) have taken part. The initiative will finish at the end of June with a run in Anchieta, Brazil (home of the South American Polo).
Volkswagen is expecting up to 20,000 people around the world to take part in the run and will calculate a donation based on the total number of kilometres its employees complete. The funds raised will go towards the 'a chance to play' project, which helps disadvantaged children and young people close to the Volkswagen plants and focuses on preventing violence as well as providing opportunities for learning and education.
