Volkswagen launches new Golf BlueMotion

The 1.6 litre TDI engine that powers the Golf BlueMotion puts out 105bhp, and has a fuel consumption figure of 3.8 litres per 100km. The engine is mated to a five-speed manual gearbox that has been geared long and even includes a gear recommendation function to advise the driver to drive in the optimum gear at all times.
Other energy-saving features on the Golf BlueMotion include a braking energy recovery function, a start-stop system that shuts off the engine automatically when the car is idle and starts-up again when moving off, tyres optimised for rolling resistance, exceptionally light and aerodynamic wheels, an aerodynamically refined body and a lowered running gear.
