Volkswagen has revealed the ID.7 Tourer, an estate variant of the ID.7 all-electric liftback revealed in April of 2023.
At the rear, the Volkswagen ID.7 Tourer continues to sport the muscular light signature as its fastback, but gets a taller roofline that allows it to offer a total luggage capacity of 605 litres. Fold the rear seats and this space swells to a total of 1,714 litres. The ID.7 also differs from its liftback variant thanks to the addition of a discreet roof spoiler and the addition of some sleek black roof rails. Over at the front, the ID.7 Tourer will be available Volkswagen's IQ.Light LED matrix head lights.
The Volkswagen ID.7 is designed to ferry passengers in high comfort thanks to its ergoActive seats, and gets a 605-litre boot at the rear, which can be expanded to 1,714 litres with the rear seats folded flat
Volkswagen is offering the ID.7 Tourer with two different battery sizes, with the larger 86kWh battery able to deliver a WLTP range of up to 685km, alongside a maximum battery charging speed of 200kW via a direct current charger. The all-electric estate will also come with an augmented-reality head-up display as standard, which projects information relevant to the journey into the driver’s field of vision, so they can keep their eyes on the road.
Also present in the cabin of the ID.7 is a 15-inch free-standing touchscreen. As first seen on the updated Volkswagen Golf, this infotainment system gets Volkswagen's IDA voice assistant itself supported by ChatGPT so it can answer specific questions on various subjects by accessing online databases such as Wikipedia.
The car is also being launched with a Wellness in-car app that makes use of the ID.7’s premium details including air-conditioning vents that are operated by motors as well as ergoActive seats complete with a pressure-point massage function, to deliver outstanding passenger comfort. The car will also come with a panoramic sunroof with layers that can be electronically switched to be either opaque or clear. These features can all be accessed by the app and will be adjusted accordingly based on three preconfigured programmes.
