Volkswagen will present a double world premiere of two new and extremely efficient electric cars at the International Motor Show in Frankfurt. The electric versions of the up! and the Golf - christened the e-up! and e-Golf respectively - aim to offer unlimited everyday practicality, four (proper) doors and equipped with attractive equipment.

They are intuitive to operate, practical in everyday use and sophisticated, like the rest of the Volkswagen family. The emissions-free cars are manufactured with the same high volume production systems as the rest of the range.
The e-Golf is driven by a 113bhp rated electric motor which produces its maximum drive torque of 270Nm as soon as it starts off. The front-wheel driven Golf EV propels to a 100km/h in 10.4 seconds before hitting a restricted speed of 140km/h.
The four-seating e-up! is powered by a 80bhp motor, which transmits 210Nm of torque to the front axle from a standstill. The century sprint is completes in a leisurely 12.4 seconds before hitting a top speed of 130km/h.
The driving range of the e-up! reaches 160km, while the e-Golf has a range of 190 km. Both models possess two driving modes - Eco and Eco+ - and four regenerative braking modes D1, D2, D3 and B to extend the range of the EVs.
On the efficiency scale, the e-ip! consumes just 11.7kWh of electricity per 100km, which Volkswagen claims makes it an efficiency champion, while the e-Golf attains a value of 12.7kWh.
