Volvo joins Tesla Supercharger network in North America

Owners of electric Volvos in North America will soon be able to utilise Tesla's Supercharger network.
The move comes as Volvo enters into an agreement with Tesla, which will see Volvo cars in North America will be equipped with the North American Charging Standard (NACS) charging port from 2025. The move comes just three months after Ford also announced that its electric vehicle customers will also be able to utilise the Supercharger network via an adapter.
Volvo states that it is the first European car manufacturer to sign such an agreement with Tesla, which will give current and future electric Volvo car drivers access to Tesla's Supercharger network across the U.S.A, Canada, and Mexico. This network currently spans 12,000 charging points, but is expected to grow as Tesla continues to expand it.
Drivers of Volvo Cars' current lineup of fully electric cars, from the XC40 and C40 Recharge to the recently revealed EX30 and EX90, will be able to find charging locations through the Volvo Cars app and are anticipated to be able to use the Supercharger network with an adapter from the first half of 2024.
Drivers of future Volvo cars equipped with the NACS charge port that wish to continue charging via the Combined Charging System (CCS) of chargers will be able to continue doing so with an adapter provided by Volvo Cars.
