Wearnes, local distributor for Volvo, has launched the Volvo S60 T8 and Volvo XC60 T8 plug-in hybrids at the recently concluded Singapore Motor Show.
Launched as part of Volvo's ambitious plans to reduce its carbon footprint by 40% per car by 2025 as compared to 2018 and to be climate neutral by 2040, the new plug-in hybrid range is designed to deliver a more sustainable driving experience to local drivers.
In addition to the fuel tank and a 2.0-litre petrol internal combustion engine, the plug-in hybrid cars are also equipped with a rechargeable lithium-ion battery that drives the cars at low speeds.
The hybrid battery can easily be charged through a charging port at home or at a charging station. Alternatively, the electric motor's engine brake converts the car's kinetic energy to electrical energy during light braking to charge the hybrid battery. This function is active at all speeds.
The T8 Twin Engine in both cars develop a total of 402bhp and 640Nm of torque, enough to bring the S60 T8 from zero to 100km/h in 4.4 seconds. Meanwhile, the XC60 T8 will be propelled from standstill to 100km/h in 5.3 seconds.
Both cars come with Volvo's City Safety, which delivers Full Auto Brake as well as Pedestrian and Cyclist Detection. IntelliSafe Surround meanwhile will get you Volvo's Blind Spot Information System, Cross Traffic Alert and Rear Collision Warning.
Both cars also promise an immersive music experience with its top-of-the-range Harmon Kardon premium sound system, which features a unique air-ventilated woofer that delivers precise and powerful sound with active noise cancellation.
Prices for both cars are inclusive of a charging station and its installation, and customers will also be given a choice between $1,000 of Renewable Energy Certificates or $1,000 of charging credits.
