Volvo recalls cars for power seat problems

The recall affects a total of 7420 cars, and the models involved are the S40 sedan, the V50 estate, and the S60 sedan built from 2009-2010, as well as the 2010 Volvo XC60 crossover. The problem that triggered the recall is a defective front passenger seat power system.

Volvo says that the front seat rail's detection system was manufactured incorrectly, and that it might cause the passenger to forward the seat beyond the intended maximum, putting them at risk of injury in a crash.

The Swedish carmaker has informed its dealers to notify affected owners, and inspect the cars' front passenger side seat rails for the presence of an "end stop" and repair the vehicles as necessary free of charge. Owners can also contact Volvo for more information.
