Demand for fully electric cars is continuing to grow across the Volkswagen Group - even as each brand within its house continues to widen and intensify its lineup of all-electric models.
Compared to the first half of 2022, H1 2023 saw the Group increasing its deliveries of battery-electric vehicles (BEVs) by 48%. It managed to deliver 321,600 vehicles to its customers between the months of January and June 2023.
The Group largely had its own home base to thank for the boost, with Europe contributing to about 68% of the BEV deliveries. China came in a distant second, making up 19%, while the U.S.A. was further behind, at 9% - although it's worth pointing out that this represented a 76% year-on-year increase. Other international markets made up the remaining 4%
The Volkswagen ID. 4, which we recently got to drive in Singapore, was the Group's most successful BEV model in H1 2023 (alongside the coupe-SUV styled ID. 5)
The Volkswagen brand itself, too, proved to have the strongest pull out of all the brands: The 164,800 cars it managed to get to customers made up more than half of the deliveries for the period
For H1 2023, the five most successful BEV models were spearheaded by the Volkswagen ID. 4/ID. 5 SUVs (101,200 units), the Volkswagen ID. 3 hatch (49,800), and the Audi Q4 e-tron and Q4 Sportback e-tron SUVs (48,000 units). The Skoda Enyaq iV and Enyaq Coupe iV (31,300 units), and finally, the Audi Q8 e-tron and Q8 Sportback e-tron SUVs (19,500 units), made up the remainder of the Top Five.
Remarkably, Porsche is continuing to pull impressive numbers. With only the Taycan as its sole all-electric contender (albeit in three different body styles, and a multitude of powertrain options), the performance marque managed a commendable figure of 18,000 BEV units delivered in H1 2023.
