Yorkshire's National Parks, which include the Yorkshire Dales National Park and North York Moors National Park in the U.K., have announced it now has 18 new electric vehicle charging points for visitors to utilise.
The chargers are funded by BMW U.K. through its Recharge in Nature partnership with National Parks U.K., and marks a new milestone in a partnership which plans to install chargers across all 15 of the U.K.'s national parks by the end of 2025.
BMW states that the U.K. has nearly 54,000 public charging points but one third of these are currently in London. With 93 million visits to the U.K.'s National Parks made by car each year, this enhancement of the U.K’s charging network will allow more travel options for those choosing to drive.
The Recharge in Nature partnership is also supporting community impact and nature restoration projects. The North York Moors National Park is using BMW funding to support outdoor volunteering programmes for families and young adults, with the goal of boosting the physical and mental wellbeing of those volunteering and establishing a community of committed conservationists.
