More than 80 cars have been shortlisted and are competing in over 20 categories in this year's Sgcarmart Car of the Year competition, all in the name of recognising each car manufacturers' efforts and creativity in bringing their cars to a higher level once more in terms of design, efficiency, versatility, output and value for money.
These seven criteria will contribute 5% to the total score.
* The criteria mentioned above are based on the main variant of each model range.
** Only cars that have been launched and tested by 15th October 2017 have been considered for this year's Sgcarmart's Cars of the Year competition.
Our judges will evaluate the cars based on a total of eight criteria. The first seven criteria are:
» Average monthly views (model) on Sgcarmart.com
» Average price
» Features (sunroof, push-start button, smart key, electric seats, etc.)
» Performance (engine capacity, engine type, top-speed, acceleration, etc.)
» Fuel economy
» Size
» Safety features
The eighth criterion is where you guys, our readers, are involved. In order for fair competition to take place, Consumer Voting will hold a massive 65 percent of the total score, which means your votes play a huge role in determining the winners.
Our judges are always on the hunt for perfection, so be sure to pay extra attention to detail and overall professionalism. Our judges will be keeping a lookout for your votes.

Yet another tiring but incredibly interesting year of driving, hours of comparing, arguing, laughing and of course, writing about the cars we love the most, has gone by.

And once again, the sum of our yearlong endeavours has led us to the eighth instalment of Sgcarmart's Car of the Year Awards. This brutal car-on-car contest is a product of the Editorial team's uncompromising pursuit of perfection, as we invite you, our readers, to also have a hand in deciding which cars are going to be crowned the king of their segment.

We've toiled (and bickered) to ensure that the impartial system of this competition is retained without compromising our credibility, which means the same rules, and regulations remain - only cars that were launched and tested before 15th October 2017 qualify for Sgcarmart's Car of the Year Awards. As before, we're stoked to see the eighth iteration of this competition get under way for your reading and voting enjoyment. And to make sure you're just as exhilarated as us, we've whipped up some very exciting prizes for voters to take home. So, skim through our nominated cars and pick your favourites!

As the Editorial Team grows, changes and learns, we strive for improvement and for the courage to make changes, which bring about a more engaging and positive online experience, with credible pieces that will tingle our readers' senses.

While it sounds more evolutionary than revolutionary, it's no walk in the park for us. This competition isn't just about throwing cars of a feather in a category and picking a champ. It's about rewarding a carmaker according to its achievements and capabilities of being the absolute crème de la crème.

There's no doubting the prospect of a few laughable outcomes in some categories but the Editorial Team is watching closely to ensure that nothing of such nonsensical nature goes down in history. Come on, let's be honest now, we're not just any automotive website. We're Singapore's number one automotive portal. We get the show on the road through our qualitative actions by coming up with relevant categories and writing about the cars the way you want to read about them. Now go and cast your votes and break some hearts.
