With the growing local market of light commercial vehicles at 54 percent of the total vehicle population, Volkswagen Singapore is offering an even more attractive range of models from Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles.
The Caddy Maxi
With a payload of 830kg and a stowage compartment volume of 4,200 litres, the Caddy Maxi was designed specifically for all owners that require a very high load capacity.
The Caddy Maxi is longer than the standard Caddy by 470mm and this results in a longer wheelbase of 3,006mm as well, up from 2,681mm. The wide double sliding doors also allow for comfortable loading and unloading. Moreover, the cargo area of up to 2,250mm in length is easily the best value in this segment.
The Caddy Maxi's 1.6-litre TDI engine features state of the art technology, resulting in high performance (102bhp and a maximum torque of 250Nm) with an extremely low fuel consumption of 17.9km/L (manual transmission). The Caddy Maxi is available in five-speed manual and seven-speed DSG automatic versions.
The Caddy
The Caddy has been a perpetual local favourite and is now more attractive than ever with a lower price and optimised equipment levels. At 3.2 square metres, the cargo area of the Caddy offers enough room for small and short transportation tasks. Two different sized rear hinged doors with asymmetric division allow a cargo height of 1,244mm.
The maximum load width is 1,552mm and the completely level cargo floor of 1,781mm offers space for large pallets. At 755kg, the payload of the Caddy is also extremely high.
Buyers can choose from two different 1.6-litre TDI engines - a 75bhp version mated to a five-speed manual gearbox and a 102bhp version, which comes as standard with a seven-speed DSG automatic. Both engines have extremely high torque outputs of 225Nm and 250Nm respectively.
The Transporter
The Transporter is the versatile one in Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles' lineup. It is perfectly suited to businesses requiring a large load area and generous payload, and is now being offered in a choice of three maximum gross weight capacities.
The entry-level Transporter (T26) is the 2.6-tonne standard wheelbase model, powered by a 85bhp version of the efficient 2.0-litre TDI engine, offered exclusively with a five-speed manual gearbox.
A higher output 2.0-litre TDI with 140bhp and 340Nm of torque is standard in the other Transporter models. There is a choice of standard wheelbase (3.0-tonne) and long wheelbase (3.2-tonne) models, both with either a six-speed manual gearbox or a five-speed DSG automatic.
The standard wheelbase Transporter (T30) offers an impressive load bed of 4.3 square metres, making for a cargo volume of 5.8 cubic metres. With the long wheelbase model (T32), the 400mm stretch between the front and rear axles gives a total length of 5,290mm and a load bed of 5.0 square metres.
As with the Caddy and Caddy Maxi, the Transporter is fitted with ESP as standard, making it the only van in its competitive class to have this essential safety feature.
At the same time, Volkswagen Singapore has introduced fuss-free class-leading warranty and service packages. All models now come with a five-year/200,000km (whichever comes first) warranty and, for the launch period, free servicing for up to five years and 100,000km.
Customers can also choose to purchase attractively priced servicing packages in advance from only $922, if their mileage is expected to exceed 100,000km in five years. More importantly, all models only require servicing every 20,000km and this reduces running costs in the long term.
