At this years edition of the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, Bugatti is set to parade some of its most historically successful cars, including two of the record holders in its lineup.
The first is the Bugatti Type 35, the most successful racing car of all time, totalling nearly 2,000 victories and podium finishes. Between the mid-1920s to the 1930s, it won all the major races, including five consecutive victories at the Targa Florio, the toughest road race in the world at the time. In its time, the Type 35 was the only car that could be driven both on the race track and on the roads.
The second is the Bugatti Veryon 16.4 Super Sport, which managed to hit a record setting 431.072 km/h, making it the fastest production car in the world, a record that remains unbeaten to this day. The Veryon is one of the most significant technological accomplishments in the automobile industry. It was the first production car with over 1,000bhp, the first to exceed 400kh/h and accelrate from zero to 100km/h in less than three seconds - whilst remaining comfortably drivable in the same configuration. The Veryon set a new benchmark for supercar design and performance.
Another two exceptional examples of Bugatti's racing pedigree and heritage will be featured: a Type 57SC Roadster and a Type 55 Super Sport Roadster. The Type 57SC Corsica Roadster was first launched at the 1935 Paris Motor Show, a sporty version of the Type 57 touring car. Only 43 Type 57SC veicles were manufactured until production ceased in 1938.
