Kia ranks highest overall in J.D. Power 2017 Initial Quality Study

Kia has ranked the highest in overall initial quality for the second consecutive year, according to the J.D. Power 2017 Initial Quality Study (IQS). On top of that, Kia has bagged three more awards, bringing the total number of accolades from this study to four - more than what other brands have achieved for this round. The 2017 IQS measures car quality by analysing problems reported in the mechanical quality and design of areas such as the powertrain, body and interior, as well as features and accessories.

It is based on responses from nearly 80,000 purchasers and lessees of new 2017 model year vehicles, who were surveyed after 90 days of ownership. Manufacturers worldwide use the information from the IQS to design and produce the best cars to exceed owners' expectations. Kia ranks highest in overall initial quality this year with a score of 72 problems experienced per 100 vehicles (the lower the score, the better), similar to its result in 2016.

Kia also won awards for the 2017 Kia Cerato K3 (Highest Ranked Compact Car in Initial Quality in the U.S.A), the 2017 Kia Niro (Highest Ranked Small SUV in Initial Quality in the U.S.A), and for two out of three years in a row, the 2017 Kia Sorento (Highest Ranked Mid-size SUV in Initial Quality in the U.S.A). These awards speak for Kia's always-on promise of quality and reliability for cars that constantly exceed expectations.
